By creating a Folio account or using the Folio service at folio.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Folio.
Folio is a book tracking, journaling, and social reading platform that lets you log books you're reading, track your reading history, write reviews, and connect with other readers. The service is provided "as is" and may change over time.
You retain ownership of content you create on Folio (reviews, notes, posts). By posting content, you grant Folio a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and store that content to operate the service.
You are solely responsible for your content. You agree not to post content that:
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate them.
You may not:
Folio and its original content (excluding user content), features, and functionality are owned by Folio and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Book metadata (titles, authors, covers) is sourced from third-party databases and is subject to their respective licences.
Folio may offer paid plans in the future. If and when paid features are introduced, pricing and billing terms will be displayed before any charge is made. You will always be able to use core reading tracking features for free.
Folio is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups (use the Export feature).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Folio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately, and we will delete your data per our Privacy Policy.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law.
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
